Caring for Our Healthy Future – Giving Tuesday 2024
The Coachella Valley is facing a healthcare professional shortage crisis – there simply are not enough nurses, doctors, therapists, technicians and others to care for our community. These types of jobs not only provide excellent careers for local students, but they meet an urgent workforce need. This year alone, our local hospitals have a significant shortage of nurses, and 20% of RNs are approaching retirement. These shortages will impact the care our residents are able to receive.
OneFuture is working with local partners like our three K-12 school districts, Desert Healthcare District and Foundation, Desert Care Network, Eisenhower Health, Riverside University Health Systems-Behavioral Health, Desert Oasis Healthcare, IEHP, College of the Desert, CSUSB, UCR, Jewish Family Services, Health Career Connection and other to help students explore these careers and get the education and skills training they need to be our next generation healthcare providers.
Our Giving Tuesday fund will help local students achieve their goals of working in the healthcare field. Your support will provide needed scholarships to local youth who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend college and pursue a career in healthcare.
Since 2010, OneFuture has provided scholarships and student support services to local students who have earned 537 degrees in health majors, 39 Masters degrees, 11 Doctoral degrees and 131 Nursing degrees.
Our scholars are part of the solution!
